Prince Harry has been replaced by King Charles, eroding their already strained relationship.
A royal Christmas custom involves family members exchanging "joke gifts" to boost festive happiness.
According to royal analyst Duncan Larcombe, the Duke of Sussex was originally regarded as the family's "joker" owing to his sense of humour, but his father took over after his royal leave.
He told OK!, "It's a long-running tradition for the family to exchange joke gifts at Christmas, so there's always a lot of laughter at Sandringham."
He went on: "In the past, Prince Harry used to be the biggest joker, but now I imagine it's Charles, who has a very strong sense of humour."
While revealing the royals' inside stories, Duncan stated, "Sometimes we imagine the royals are all very serious, but they like a good giggle like most families."
These remarks may strike Harry as he celebrates the event apart from his family in Montecito.
