Tim Allen, well known for his role as Buzz Lightyear in the iconic Toy Story trilogy, has revealed key details about the impending fifth chapter.
In an interview with Collider, the 71-year-old actor shared an intriguing update regarding Toy Story 5: he recently begun recording sessions for the fan favorite character.
"I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago," Allen added, calling the sensation of returning to the recording studio "really, really weird."
Reflecting on the process, Allen stated that he struggled at first to replicate the persona he created in 1995. However, he added, "Maybe two hours in, I was doing Buzz."
While storyline specifics for the upcoming Toy narrative picture remain unknown, Allen hinted that the script is "a very, very clever story."
"Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn't have done it, and they wouldn't have called me and Tom [Hanks]," she said.
Allen has played Buzz Lightyear in all four major Toy Story films, beginning with the original in 1995 and continuing with Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Toy Story 4 (2019), as well as several specials and short films.
Though Chris Evans voiced Buzz in the 2022 spin-off Lightyear, the film did not have the same economic or critical success as the main series.
Additionally, Toy Story 5 is set to be released in 2026.
