Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were delighted as they engaged with the throng assembled for the Christmas walkabout at Sandringham.
As the Wales family returned from a Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene's Church, they were greeted warmly and overwhelmed with flowers and gifts.
The adoring father of three was spotted hanging protectively over his children as they collected presents and spoke with the public. In one incident, Prince Louis was clearly thrilled to get chocolate.
As Louis was collecting the sweet sweets from a small admirer, William respectfully interfered and made a genuine gesture for her.
"No, you can't give away all the chocolates! "Definitely not," William told the young admirer. "You've got to keep them for yourself as well."
Meanwhile, the six-year-old prince stood next to his father, arms full of gifts and chocolates, appearing anxious to accept the gesture but remaining rooted in place following William's gracious command.
The scene perfectly exemplified the future king's parenting style, "firm yet affectionate," which he had adopted with Kate for the next royal generation.
