When Jason and Travis Kelce reflect on their childhoods, they can't help but admire their industrious father.
In the episode of New Heights: Heights Hotline, which aired on Wednesday, December 18th, the Kelce brothers disclosed that their father, Ed Kelce, used to work extra hours during the holidays to provide gifts for his children.
The athletic brothers said they tried to figure out where their 'Santa' was concealing their presents.
Travis stated, "Me and Jason both knew where Santa was concealing those presents," to which Jason replied, "No, we did not. I didn't find out till later, when you convinced me."
At one point, the retired Philadelphia Eagles center revealed that "dad would take the second job in order to buy gifts for Travis and I because he needed more money around the holidays to buy the gifts that Travis and I were asking for," and dubbed him "the ultimate dad."
He went on, "Travis and I were very into the Xbox one year. We wanted the new one, so we went up into the attic and searched around until we found it.
However, the brothers agreed that "we're gonna act surprised" on Christmas day.
The young brothers' plan did not work out, and their mother, Donna Kelce, became aware of what they had done.
"And then on Christmas Day we open the gift, acted surprised, or at least we thought we were, and apparently it didn't work because we were sitting there playing Xbox after the festivities, like within moments, and mom came into the room and said, 'You know, your father takes a second job around the holidays just to see the look on your guys' face when you open the gifts,' and we were so sad for about 15 seconds and we were back to playing Xbox," Jason observed as Travis laughed.
Nonetheless, they admitted that the event had a long-term influence. "It was enough of a guilt trip that I never looked again," Jason told me. "And I will not look again. It hit me, but I kept attempting to play Xbox."
